Project Summary for
Pinecrest Road Yard UST Removal And Investigation

Owner: Tuolumne County

Location: Pinecrest, California

Project Description:
Pinecrest, California Two 500 gallon USTs which contained gasoline and diesel respectively, were removed from inside of the shop maintenance building. There was no evidence of leakage from either the tanks or the piping. Nevertheless, the bedding material and ground water were contaminated with gasoline and diesel. American Geological Services, Inc. over excavated the fill material to clean bedrock. The water was purged with repetitive pumping and contained no detectable contamination. The ground water aquifer is over 200 feet deep at the site. The water in the tank excavation was snow melt from the snow plows and was confined within the impermeable bedrock. That site has been approved for closure.
